Shhhh, don’t tell anyone, but I’m a favorite at the shelter!
Why we love Richard–and you should too!
“Hi, my name is Richard! If you could believe it, I was picked up from the streets and brought to a city shelter. That is where I stayed until they found out I was FeLV+ and needed surgery to correct my entropion. For all of you who don’t know what that is, in laments terms, it’s when your eyelashes grow inward and rub against your eyeballs! Ugh, how uncomfortable! Now that I have had corrective surgery, I am as good as new! I hear ALL the time about how I am a shelter favorite, but don’t let the other cats know, I don’t want them to get jealous.
I love getting attention and pets. I have been lucky enough to have FREE training lessons from the behavior staff here on how to better communicate with my human friends. English is hard, ya’ll! When I first came off the streets, I thought that if I bite people’s hands when they quit petting me, it would make them continue to give me more attention. Let’s just say that wasn’t working out too well. But, I learned here that I don’t need to do that! All I have to do is give them a sweet look in the eyes, or a quick sit, and Viola! They start petting me again, genius!
I am a smart guy, so it’ll be fun to continue to learn how to communicate and maybe some tricks! Everyone agrees I’m an overall sweet kitty, so let me be one of your favorites, too.”
