Single and Loving it!

UPDATE: Missy has been adopted! She’s happily living the single life in her new, forever home.

There are lots of cool things about being single: you never have to think about what someone else wants to have for dinner or interrupt your binge watch of “Scandal” to watch Madagascar 2. If you are a cat, being single means no other cat makes any tracks (or anything else) in your litter box, no one drools in your kibble, uses your scratching post, plops onto your windowsill or snuggles your human.

Sometimes, we meet animals who are better off as single pets. Just like people, they don’t really want to hang out in groups. They’d rather just fly solo where other animals are concerned. They love people and they may love other species, but their own kind? Meh.

Many of us have met cats like this and know exactly what we’re talking about. They’re the king or queen of their domicile and tolerate no pretenders to the throne! They’re people-friendly, but add another cat and it is a hair-pulling episode of “Mob Wives.” If they had tiny martinis they’d be throwing them in each other’s face regularly. (Don’t even act like you have never secretly watched it.)

We know there’s a home out there for single cats. Maybe it is someone just who wants one pet, or is a first-time cat owner who has always wanted to adopt and is ready to take the plunge—but not all the way to the deep end in multiple cats.

Kicking off our promo (and kicking all other cats to the curb) is Missy. Missy came to Friends For Life after her loving owner passed away. She has a personality as vivid and striking as her amazing markings!

Here are some facts about Missy:

• This is one classy cat, with great house manners. She is spotlessly litterbox trained and knows the difference between her scratching post and your furniture.
• She bonds strongly with her favorite people and enjoys spending time near them. She’ll lie next to you on the couch, gaze up at you from the paperwork on your desk, and share your bed at night. When you come home, she’ll greet you with a melodious chirp.
• She’s trained to perform tricks! Missy will sit and come on cue and knows how to use a targeting stick.
• Her dignified looks belie a kittenish nature: this frisky girl is ready to play whenever you’re in the mood!
