Would you like to be a part of changing an entire industry?
Shelters have been run the same way for 150 years. In 2002, we brought a brand-new way of doing things to Houston. Thousands of animals are alive now who would have been lost before.
Friends For Life is the shelter that went from being the rebels and underdogs to industry leaders in our first 20 years. We have taken “unsaveable” animals from every major shelter in and around Houston and found them happy homes.
- During the peak of the pandemic, we treated more than 7,000 animals for Houstonians hit by the downturn, free of charge to their families.
- Our internationally acclaimed behavior department is led by a person who has certifications held by only 336 other behavior professionals on the planet.
- We led the Houston animal response during Harvey and successfully ran the first cohabitated shelter in the nation, sheltering over 1500 pets with families while providing top-notch vet care. We went on to help write the international manual on cohabitated sheltering.
We do some seriously cool things. But we don’t take ourselves too seriously. Literally posted on our wall is “We do hard things. Then we have a snack.”
If you think that you’d like to be a part of this one-of-a-kind organization, we’d love to meet you!
