When we asked our Behavior & Training Manager about Scooby Duke, she couldn't help but rave: "I've spoken with so many people who've spent time with Scooby, and there's always one word that comes up—PERFECT. He has perfect manners, he's the perfect gentleman, and he walks perfectly on leash. I had high expectations when I met him, and Scooby exceeded every one of them."Scooby is a laid-back, well-mannered pup who gets along beautifully with both dogs and cats. He's the ideal work-from-home buddy, often lounging on a bed that's hilariously too small for him (but we won’t tell him that—it’s all about what makes Scooby happy!).If you'd like to offer Scooby Duke a much-deserved break from the shelter—whether it's for a week or forever—contact us at Foster@Friends4Life.org
When Julia came to Friends For Life Animal Shelter back in 2016, she was a staff and volunteer favorite: calm, gentle, and wiggly to everyone she met. She was so well-mannered and friendly, it didn’t take long before she was adopted.Seven years later, Julia was returned to the shelter in terrible shape and in need of TLC. She had deep scars around her neck, an infected hemangioma, heartworm disease, long untreated infected ears, skin issues … It’s so hard seeing a dog in this condition, but we were relieved that her adopter brought her back to us, to give us a second chance at doing right by her.Julia spent the next chapter of her story healing emotionally and physically, under the tender ministrations of our Wellness and Animal Care and Enrichment teams, as well as our volunteers. And now, she waits at the shelter.Julia is still the patient affectionate dog she once was. Still loves everyone. Still loves baby talk and ear rubs. She is just waiting for a place to crash where there are no hours of operation. Whether you can give her a week or you can give her the rest of her lifetime, Julia is counting on you to kick off a do-over of the happily ever after we owe her.If you can foster or adopt Julia, contact us at Foster@Friends4Life.org
One of the many ADORABLE things we’ve learned about Daniel-san, the dog who was on the kill list for being terrified at a municipal shelter — he gets all oogley googley when he sees kids 🥰 Here’s a video of him meeting some of our youngest FFLers for the first time.Daniel is now all healed up from his surgery and is officially ready to find a real home! We will miss him so much, but no shelter can match a proper home! If you can give Daniel a place to stay, whether for a week or the rest of his life, please contact us at Foster@Friends4Life.org
