About Rufus
For at least two years, Rufus lived in the shadows above an apartment hallway, tucked away in a crawl space that was never meant to be a home. Residents knew he was there. They fed him and cared for him in the only ways they could. But somehow, he stayed overhead, watching life pass below him like a quiet tenant no one officially claimed. Now he’s finally earthside.
Rufus is a handsome brown tabby with thoughtful eyes and the gentle manners of a cat who seems to remember couches, voices, and the rhythm of indoor life. He appears tame and comfortable with people, which makes us believe he may have once been someone’s house cat. Whatever his past held, he carries himself with resilience and quiet grace.
He’s still adjusting to having solid ground beneath his paws, but he’s showing us that beneath that long chapter of isolation is a cat who wants connection. Rufus deserves more than ceilings and echoes. He deserves windows, warmth, and a person who won’t overlook him. After years above the hallway, he’s ready to finally come home. 🐾
