I’m the sweetest “special needs” kitty you’ll ever find!

Why we love Birdie–and you should too!

“I was rescued by my adoptive mom when a shelter was going to euthanize me because I’m a “special needs” kitty.  Then, the worst thing happened, my mom died suddenly.  She loved me so much and took such good care of me. My name is Birdie and Friends for Life is helping me find a new home.  I’m good with other kitties and with children; the kiddos probably need to be older since I won’t be able to keep up with any young-ins!

I have cerebellar hypoplasia; my head bobs around some, but I’ve learned how to keep it out of my food and I eat on my own! I am also great about using my ‘special’ litter box, it just needs to have low sides, so I can get in and out! I don’t have much control over my limbs, but I can still get around by rolling and dragging my hind legs.  When I get used to a space, my mobility improves! I learn the best ways to get around obstacles and get used to the flooring.  Caring for me is not hard, I promise.  At night, or when you are away – I prefer to have my own little kennel with a bed to hang out in until you’re ready for a lap warmer! Having a disability has taught me how to be confident in adapting to new environments!  All of these challenges haven’t gotten me down.  I’m so sweet, I can melt sugar!  I love petting and sitting in your lap being cuddled.  To be honest, if I could sit in some ones lap all day, I would think I died and gone to heaven! I’m not afraid of anyone and I have beautiful long, soft fur.  When I say I get along with everyone, I mean it.  I would be GREAT with other feline siblings – they keep me young and they keep me moving around for exercise.  I would also be ok with respectful dogs.  Kids… No problem, as long as they like long cuddle sessions! I miss my mom and I really want a new family to love me and I promise I will love them back.  Meet me and I know I will capture your heart and you’ll want me to be your “special” lap kitty.”
