Peggy’s TPLO Surgeries

Peggy came to us after being abandoned in an ant pile. Now, we're getting her the surgery she needs.

February 28, 2022 by wpengine

Where Peggy came from

Our sweet girl Peggy came to us after being left in an ant pile. She had been abandoned by someone in one of our shelter neighbor’s yards before she was found by one of our staff members.

Ant bites, on their own, are SUPER dangerous for dogs and can easily overwhelm their system. We immediately brought her down the block to our shelter and got her cleaned up and treated. After she got to rest after that trauma, we discovered that Peggy has some serious issues with her knees. We hoped maybe it was something that some rest and gentle PT would resolve, but after numerous x-rays and visits to the neurologist, we were told that Peggy would need surgery on BOTH of her knees.

On February 24, Peggy went in for her first of two major TPLO surgeries, to the tune of $5000 for the first one. When she’s ready, we’ll get her the second surgery for an additional $5000.

“Courage wasn’t a matter of taking the whole mountain in a single massive leap. Courage was taking it one step at a time.”

– Timothy Zahn

$10,000 is A LOT of money.

It’s a lot of time, care, and money for just one little grey pittie. If Peggy has the courage to take the next step, though, we’ll be here to help her one day conquer that mountain.
