Ken and Kim are veteran FFL fosters who have fostered more than 130 animals over a decade.
Ken and Kim’s foster dogs have run the gamut from elderly dogs with medical needs, to FFL’s most fearful dog, Nemmy, whom Ken and Kim helped trust humans again. These two wrote the book on patience, perseverance, and unconditional love!
What is your best memory of fostering?
There are too many to count! We long-term fostered two elderly poodles, Missy and Molly. They were so relieved and contented to be together in comfort. Or maybe it was being the last step in the process of helping Nemmy go from feral and abused to the point where she could trust people, or at least give them a chance.
What is your favorite thing about your foster dogs?
They each have such a unique personality and story.
What do you like best about fostering?
Foster failures – we’ve adopted some of our fosters, including two kittens! Or perhaps it is the first time we bring them home to meet the pack.
What has been your biggest struggle with fostering?
Our first foster being adopted was hard. We were not prepared for how we felt. It got much better and easier because of the support from FFL and knowing that each dog got a great home.
How has life changed for you as a foster?
Friends For Life and staff have become like extended family.
