About Alexandra
Alexandra (Lexi) is a calm and loving dog with a gentle presence. She also has a very playful side – she loves her toys, enjoys tug of war and chase/fetch, and even plays with her leash on walks. She loves walks, but she also loves to stretch out on some cool green grass.
She is a bit on the shy side. Lexi was left on the doorsteps of Friends For Life last year, likely without a lot of love in her past. We think she’s about four years old. She’s been with her current foster family for six months.
Lexi warms up more quickly to women than men – but she’s getting to know guys quicker as she’s been gaining confidence. She has reacted very well to children but is easily startled by loud and rambunctious behavior. She needs a gentle touch and some patience to get her confidence up.
Lexi would probably be happiest in a home with a yard. She loves being outside and can sometimes get nervous being indoors – although over this past summer, she has been very content to be inside during the hottest part of the day. She can be startled by sudden movements and noises but isn’t bothered by normal outdoor noises. She’s is an extremely quiet dog, but has let us know when a stranger comes into the back yard unannounced.
She is house trained – she loves to have something to chew on but is quite content with a chewy or a toy although she has made off with a sandal every now and then. (More as a game than target – no footwear has actually been damaged.)
Lexi has a golden retriever neighbor who she absolutely loves romping with – she seems to get on well with dogs, especially with a calm introduction. She does really well on walks with the loose leash technique although a strong grip is advised as she can be startled by unexpected loud noises or if there is a chase-worthy squirrel nearby.
This dog really does have has it all: adorable looks, friendly attitude, calm presence, and perceptive nature. Alexandra has nestled into our hearts here at the shelter and with her fosters. We hope she will find a way to yours too!
