FAQ
Can I submit a photo of a human for you to awkwardly draw?
No. This fundraiser is strictly for pet/animal photos.
Can I gift a portrait to someone?
Yes! Shoot us a note with the details and we’ll get you all taken care of. ๐
Can I order the original version of my artwork?
Absolutely! Originals are available for a minimum $30 donation. (If your portrait was by a digital artist, we’ll get it printed on fancy paper and sent off to you.)
Can I request a specific artist?
Not unless that artist lets us know to expect the request. All artists assignments are random.
I wanted a super awkward drawing like some of the examples, but I got one that is actually amazingly good!!
- Thatโs not a question.
- No takesy backsies!
I wanted a super amazing drawing like some of the examples, but I got one that is actually awkward (you know, AWKWARD like you guys put in the title of the event)!!
- Thatโs not a question.
- No takesy backsies!
- You can purchase custom pet portraits by small artists on Etsy.com if you’re looking for a specific style. This is a fundraiser, so artist assignment is purely luck-of-the-draw. ๐
I don’t like my artwork. Can I get a refund?
Since this is a fundraiser, we’re not offering refunds. If you’d like to enter your image to be done by another artist, feel free to donate again for a second portrait and we’ll get it in queue!
What even is this?!
Lost or confused on what this event is? Here is the background on how we started it.
Okay, so… for our 18th birthday back in June 2020, we ran a single-day artwork fundraiser. Folks donated a minimum of $20, sent us a photo of their pet, and we had a volunteer artist (awkwardly) draw the submitted pet photo.
Apparently The People of the Internet like awkward, and we were super surprised by the outpouring of support. It was a LOT of work. For the second round, in November 2020, instead of a sprint, we decided to run a marathon by extending the event for a week.
For our 19th birthday last year (June 2021, in case anyone is still experiencing time as a flat circle like we are), we ran the event for 72 hours starting June 18 at noon and ending it June 20 at 7:00 p.m. (which is 19:00 — see what we did?!).
We then did it AGAIN in December 2021 with the HOLIDAY edition of this fantastic, fun, fawkward fundraiser. And then again for our 20th birthday. And then again, and again, and… you get it.
And naturally, for our 21st birthday, we just had to bring it back.
