Senior (10+) Black Cats
Senior cats can have just as much spunk for play as a kitten, but with the added benefit of having the ability to chill. What’s not to love?
FIV+ Black Cats
What this means… FIV stands for Feline Immunodeficiency Virus. Unlike FeLV, FIV is UNLIKELY to be transferred to another cat via casual contact like shared bowls or litterboxes. Cats can transfer the virus to each other through deep bite wounds (read: knock-down-drag-out fights). Cats who are FIV+ can go a long period without showing any symptoms. Lifespans are variable – some have months of love to give to a family while others have many years. Eventually, their immune system can’t protect against “secondary infections.” If you are owned by an FIV+ cat, a semi-annual vet checkup is recommended. As always, good nutrition and a stress-free environment make a difference.
