Ellie lost her beloved human after they shared nine years together.
As if that wasn’t hard enough, with her owner’s passing, Ellie suddenly had no home. Confused and scared, she ended up at Seabrook Animal Control.
It’s been nine years since Ellie’s adoption, but someone remembered that she came from Friends For Life. A niece of the owner, concerned about Ellie, called us from several states away and told us the story. We rushed to Seabrook to bring Ellie back.
As you can see, Ellie is a senior now. She wasn’t ready to face a new beginning, but here we are.
The first days with us were marked by grief. Slowly, we learned that Ellie liked canned chicken and stuffed toys. Staff stayed late to surround our girl with a “toy mountain,” which she enjoyed. We hand-fed her tidbits to stimulate her appetite. Things started to look up.
We then learned that Ellie was in desperate need of knee surgery. Dr. Trevino observed that she wasn’t just “old dog stiff,” she was in a great deal of pain with each step.
Ellie turned out to be a great surgical patient! After recovering from the knee surgery, she is pain-free now : ) She is enjoying her new chapter from atop toy mountain with a loving foster family who adores her.
