Foster Spotlight: Diane Goulden

FEB 2023 × Foster Spotlight: Diane Goulden

February 27, 2023 by Friends For Life

FEB 2023

Each month we’ll be highlighting one of our amazing fosters. We’ll switch between cats and dogs every other month, so stay tuned for more highlights!

Diane is a long-time foster who currently fosters adoptable dog Lucky.

My favorite memory with Lucky:

Lucky has had a hard time meeting doggy friends. We went to my father’s farm and Lucky was going to meet his old dog, Hoosier. Lucky got out of the car (on leash) made a beeline for Hoosier and there was an immediate kinship. They were best buddies from the start.  It was such a victory for him and has found it easier to make doggy friends since then.

My favorite thing about Lucky:

Lucky is quite the talker! He makes all kinds of funny noises and you can tell his mood by the tones in his “voice”… Frustration “You guys are SO boring”, whiny “Why can’t I sit with you at the table?”, joyful “I get to go for a ride in the car!”

Lucky has a lot of feelings and clearly communicates them to us.

What I like best about being a foster:

I like that it is both a challenge and a joy. Each foster pup comes to us with their own set of emotional needs and fears. They also sometimes need to learn a few basic manners for their (and our) sanity. 🤪 Figuring out what all these needs are and how to address them keeps us on our toes!

The love that our fosters show us makes the rest more than worthwhile.

The biggest struggle with fostering:

The bittersweet moment when they get adopted and we have to hand them over; a few tears are shed as they drive away.
