The First Two Weeks with Your Dog

With a little work and some planning, your new dog will be a well-behaved companion for years to come.

August 21, 2018 by Friends For Life

We’ve found that many people can avoid some of the unwanted behaviors we mind in so many of our rescued animals by following some simple settling in rules when they first bring a dog into their home.

Open Paw® gives an excellent overview of the things to do in the first two weeks of getting your new dog “to instill good manners and habits from the first day you bring your new puppy or dog home.”

You might also investigate getting a camera to see how your dog is doing when you aren’t home. This informational article (shared with us by some proactive students) details some of the benefits and “how to.”
