At Friends For Life, our mission is rooted in the belief that every animal deserves safety, dignity, and care. Last week, our community brought that mission to life in the most beautiful way.
As harsh cold weather approached, we began building warm houses for community members to pick up and place where cats in their own neighborhoods needed them most. On Thursday, we built 80 warm houses, ready for pickup. Then the calls started coming in. And coming in. And coming in.
Before we knew it, every single one of Thursday’s warm houses was spoken for.
So we made the call. Let’s build more.
On Friday, we set out to 100 additional warm houses to help even more cats stay safe and warm. When we started the day, it was just one or two volunteers, quietly getting to work. But once we put out a call on social media asking for help, everything changed.
Our community showed up.
People reached out, stopped by, rolled up their sleeves, and jumped in. Cutting, gluing, assembling, and sharing the same goal of helping cats weather the cold. What started as a small effort quickly turned into a powerful reminder of what is possible when people believe in a mission and act on it together.
In just two days, over 180 warm houses were built and over 600 this winter season. Each one is a lifeline created through compassion, teamwork, and love for animals who cannot ask for help themselves.
This is what our mission looks like in action. Neighbors helping neighbors. Communities caring for their community cats. And people coming together to make sure no animal is left out in the cold.
To everyone who helped build, shared our posts, picked up a house, or spread the word, thank you. Because of you, cats across our community will face the cold with warmth, safety, and a whole lot of love.
